Pursuit of the Canned Applause and Other Things

It's been a couple weeks since I did Attempts the News, thanks to Bores posting the most boring articles! Only he finds this stuff interesting, and he keeps treating it like it's a real news site. It's a blog, a Tumblr, stuff that only your friends would care about. You're wasting GotGame's money, and they don't have a lot already!
Reader DavCube actually counted the number of video game related articles in October, and there were only 15. Five of them being Skylanders related. Why even call it "The Irate Gamer", just call it "Chris Bores' blog of stuff I found pwetty coo'"

But, maybe that will change this week. Maybe Bores will actually post some articles with substance. What's the first article this week?
*reads* ...... The meat artist again.

Once again, there will be no Attempts the News this week.

Instead, I'm going to talk about his latest video, a vlog about Pursuit of the Paranormal he posted a few days ago.
Specifically, it's about the October 12th premiere. I don't know why he took a few weeks to post a video about it, but I get the feeling he wanted to make a video about it without bursting into tears. I held off on this because I hoped there would be something else to write about, but these are the cards that Chris has dealt me.

Anyway, the video is straight up lying. The premiere was a "great turnout" and the ghost hunt was "sold out". Does he show proof of this? Nope!  The most we get is a single random person in the ghost hunt footage. When Chris is on stage talking about the "process", we never see the audience. At the end when there's applause, I've been told that it's a stock sound effect. How sad is that?
If the turnout was so great, where is everyone? Why are you the only person in the footage? Where's Alan Cicco? I get the feeling it really was only 20-30 people that showed up, just like the vendor said. I'm willing to trust that vendor more than I would trust Bores or his insane "mother", and she's a god damn psychic!

We know it was a bust, and Chris knows it was a bust. But will he admit it? Nope. He'll just continue doing what he's been doing for years, pure denial. Then continue to hide behind his mother mask and call people that criticize him "immature" and "Nazis". Classy isn't he?

EDIT: I forgot to mention (thanks to MacDragard for pointing this out), but he mentioned he wanted to set up a Pay-Per-View site for Pursuit of the Paranormal. Yeah, it's not enough he sells it on DVD, he also has to do PPV. He's really gunning to make some sort of profit, no matter what it takes. He should just post it for free on his YouTube channel, the ad revenue would help him. *turns on adblock*

Oh and he did another contest in the video, one to give away the Pursuit of the Paranormal DVD. Because nobody is going to fucking buy it! Unless it was to do a scathing review of it, and even then that's a stretch.
Seriously, how are the "Pick Me" contests perfectly acceptable, but Kickstarter is a tool of the devil?

Jeez, last actual review Bores did was Rayman Legends, and that was nearly two months ago. You're losing fans Chris if you don't put out actual content!
By the way, his video promoting the iOS game has way more dislikes than likes. Probably from people that looked at it and saw not a good game, but a shitty Newgrounds flash.

One last thing to note. A while ago I mentioned how Bores was promoting gambling sites on his blog. A source that wishes to remain anonymous informed me that Bores didn't do that of his own volition. He was paid to either write it, or paid to let someone else write it. It's linkbuilding, and it allows him to rank higher on Google searches. Not sure why he would need that, his site is the first thing that appears when you search "Irate Gamer". Unless he wants the searches for other things. Considering how random his blog can be.... hmmm.
Still, if he wanted to do something like that, why gambling? Like I said before, his audience is mostly younger kids, and telling them to gamble is horribly irresponsible. Then again, I also blame the parents of the kids for letting them watch IG, or PewDiePie (but that's an entirely different story).

EDIT: Some clarification. My anonymous source informed me that it doesn't help Chris' ranking on Google, rather it helps the gambling company that paid him. Say he posted the link to that site (I'll make up a site, VegasStakes.com or something) and the words "online poker". If one were to search "online poker", they would get VegasStakes as one of the first results.

*sighs* The lack of material is not fun.

    1. Well there are plenty of reasons such as the fact that Pewdiepie has an extremely rabid and uncontrollable fanbase. There's also the fact that his videos are edited and sometimes cut out entire sequences. And last but not least Batdan said that parents shouldn't let their kids watch pewdiepie, which makes sense considering the games that pewdiepie plays.

    2. "Pewdiedie has an extremely rabid and uncontrollable fanbase"... there, Dan hates the guy himself? I don't follow.

Yeah I don't really remember Batdan saying he hates Pewdiepie though I do remember him saying he hated darksidephil. Also why does your quote say pewdiedie?

  2. I still can't believe he bought more Skylanders after his movie tanked. He's gonna lose a lot of money and he still refuses to make videos!!! I get being to depressed to make vids but there has to be a point where you realize, "My God!!! I got to release a vid or I'm gonna lose my house!!!" He could at least release a Neo vid or two...I feel bad the man's lost everything, but he needs to face the seriousness of his dilemma...

  3. You forgot to mention the part about him thinking about setting up a pay-per-view site for people to watch Pursuit of Paranormal, which I believe is a shameful practice on his part. What happened? Not enough ad revenue is coming in for the other videos?

  6. So why couldn't his Mom show up to this again? How can you call it a great turnout of even his own mother didn't feel the need to make the effort to be there?

    1. All "Buggin" said was that "she" couldn't make it. No excuse, even. Just "couldn't make it". For someone who lies all the time, you'd think Chris would've come up with a somewhat more creative answer.

    2. Well her excuse was that her rider had to drop out. Thing is that was said with quite a few days before the actually event and so it wasn't at the last possible minute not to mention chris apparently now lives 2 hours away from his mother. Apparently he couldn't pick up his mother to go there for some reason. I think you can guess how well this holds up.

    3. Oi vey my spelling got bad today. Rider was supposed to be ride. Actually was supposed to be actual.

    4. Ha ha, I know the feeling. But you're right, unless Bores was running REALLY late (for his own event, no less, but considering who we're talking about would it really be that surprising), there's no excuse for not picking up his mother on the way to his big premiere. They're almost neighbors!

  7. ...I kinda like PewDiePie...

Also, there are plenty of Newgrounds games that are infinitely better than TIGG. I can personally recommend "Achievement Unlocked," "Level Up," "Upgrade Complete" (both 1 and 2) and "This Is The Only Level."

    1. I don't watch the guy myself, but from what I've heard he's not really bad per say, it's more or less his rabid fanbase and his lack of control over it that gets people's undies in a knot. From what I've seen of them, I'm prone to agree.

I mean, you obviously can't control every single person that watches your videos (though I bet Bores would kill for that kind of ablilty), at the very least he could say "hey guys, chill out" or something. You know, try.

Of course, if he has tried, I wouldn't know, as I don't watch him. Not because I hate him or his videos, I've just never been interested.

  9. One minor thing I'd like to point out here. You say this at the end of the post:

"One last thing to note. "

So I'd just like to point out that the Irate Gamer promoting gambling sites on his blog isn't link building for his own site. It's the online casinos getting the 'SEO' benefits that being linked on the Irate Gamer's site gives, theoretically helping their ranking in Google. They just paid him some cash to get him to promote their sleazy business.

It's also somethng that Google themselves doesn't like too much, so it's quite possible his site could get penalised or banned from Google to linking to spammy, irrelevant sites in what the search engine considers a 'bad neighbourhood'. So in other words, he puts his own greed ahead of not only his users, but also the potential popularity of his own website.

  10. Let me try this again. Honestly I don't get why he wants sympathy from anyone considering all his actions. The more crap he pulls the less empathy I feel for anything that goes wrong for him. One question did his "dear" mother actually call people nazis?

    ReplyDelete

    1. She called the blog "Nazi propaganda" so... yes.

    2. So I am actually going to have to say this. Bores I am honestly surprised how you think you can take me on but here is the thing you have, in a sense, been trying to bully me and I do have an account on youtube. If you do not stop with this crap, and this is going to be in caps so you don't miss it, I WILL REPORT YOUR CHANNEL. Oh and don't bother trying to give that bullshit excuse constantin gives whenever his channels bite the dust.

      Delete
    3. Wait, has Bores been bothering you on YouTube? That's really low.

      Delete
    4. Not quite so directly she has avoided my channel, maybe those two dislikes on my very first video are certainly suspicious, but she has been directly referring things to and about me which I could probably spin my way.

      Delete
    5. Well, if he goes too far or things get too serious, you should seriously consider reporting him to one of several cyberbully watch sites, like this one: http://quitstalkingme.com/report-a-cyberstalker/

Even if he's not really bothering you that much, you just know he'll keep bugging you and anyone else who doesn't like him, so it may be best to bite this in the metaphorical butt right now.

Also, if you do choose to report him, be sure to document his comments towards you. That will help.

      Delete
    6. Funny how the one post where she insinuates that my mother is a whore seems to have disappeared, Of course there is one bit of information I have been holding out on I had to go to essentially a special school because I have a hard time controlling my emotions. So yeah each time I talk about bores she one ups how bad she can get.

      Delete
    7. In that case, be sure to screen cap or otherwise record every hurtful comment he makes. With that and using several of those cyberbully watch sites, he'd be guaranteed to be taken down should he continue to keep stepping over his boundaries as he has been.

      Delete
    8. Yeah the whole even thinking of reporting bores was a thought I had only and I knew that at some point she was going to essentially imply I am Nazi which carries some very unfortunate implications since on my father's side I am German. Of course now I have absolutely no reason to even try being polite to bores hence why I am only ever going to use the last name even for the gender part.

      Delete
    9. All the more reason to report Bores and start ignoring him. The guy's got nothing nice to say, not to mention the fact that he's doing all this while pretending to be his mother... it's not worth wasting your time. Just report the Buggin profile any time he insults you. I mean, his IG profile might be a YouTube sponsor... but Buggin isn't. If that particular profile is reported enough...

  11. Hm. Despite actually being namedropped, i'm surprised neither Chris nor any of his sock accounts have attempted to contact me yet. Either way, i'll say this for the record. My efforts to count up those articles and post about them probably took about all of ten minutes, most of which just to jot down what they were specifically about. So there's that, if he ever wants to spin that into an obsession or something.

      http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Lab-Pursuit-The-Paranormal/dp/B0087TORIC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_sg_1

TotalActionAdventure.com has reviewed some of Bores' DVDs, and quite well; that may be our best hope for a review.

  17. Huh. I just realized something. You know what other YouTuber reviews games, often only reaches the first few stages and uses "random" humor?

    JONTRON. BORES IS THE ANTI-JONTRON.

In all seriousness, the differences are: Jon's "random humor" is meant to be surreal and completely out-of-left field, his jokes either relate directly to the subject matter (thus making them relevant) or are so freaking insane that you can't help but laugh, Jon is actually a good writer/actor, his editing is top-notch and he brings up legitimate points about the games he plays.

    1. ...Holy crap, you're right. I can't believe anyone (myself included) didn't notice this earlier! Even if someone disagrees, you make some really good points. Wow, this is really surreal...

      Delete
    2. In my opinion however, I find there are too many differences between the two. Remember that Chris makes family guy style humor (aka just reference something... that's funny right?).

Aside from that in order for this thesis to work, it would have to assume that Chris and Jontron traits are all binomial (in that you can only have one or the other) which is a difficult assumption to protect. To be fair though, it does seem rather true:

      Jontron doesn't have a a jackass fanbase
Chris Bores has a massive jackass fanbase

Jontron doesn't steal footage and pretend its his (he showed frankomatic footage during the hercules review and the words frankomatic are clearly visible)
Chris Bores steals footage and pretends its his

Jontron gave up gamegrumps to save his main series
Chris Bores didn't give up chasing ghosts and having racist road trips and pretty much limbo'd his series

Jontron doesn't use a puppet account to defend himself
Chris has used and has been caught using several puppet accounts to defend himself

      Jontron uses good special effects
      Chris uses shitty stock effects

      Jontron has a lazy schedule
Chris has a... oh wait this doesn't work

Jontron has people making fun of him
Chris has... oh this doesn't work either

Well its a still a good working theory!

I remember that Dan was thinking about posting everything she said, but he didn't.

    1. I remember Stella. Personally I'm against a post about her stories.

First of all, things Bores did back in High School aren't really any of our business, unless he decides to share it on the internet himself.

Secondly, Stell came to this blog. She was already aware of IG and his infamy. I'm not saying she made everything up, but her stories amount to things that anyone could say about Bores and it'd sound true because it matches what we know about him.

Finally, I met another person who claimed to know Bores as well. Unlike Stella, this guy was unaware of Bores infamy, had no idea he was an internet celebrity, and had no knowledge of this blog. He offered stories that contradicted Stella's. One of these more extreme stories was confirmed true years later, giving him more credibility.

      Delete
    2. What is the more extreme story you say was confirmed?

    3. ...following up on that, I think maybe one or two things he said might be relevant to this blog's discussion someday. If it doesn't regard Bores's "creative" work or "credentials", don't even ask me to share it.

    4. She came on the blog quite some time back claiming to have known Bores before the start of his infamy and shared a few stories. From what Dave here is saying, she may not have been on the up and up.

  25. I predict that Irate Gamer will go defunct by the end of next year. He hasn't reviewed many newer games in the past year other than Skylanders, his regular IG reviews have been rare and awful, and his credibility has been shot to hell. He blocks people from commenting on his videos who post legit, constructive criticism or ask tough questions, he goes out of his way to get videos that criticize him removed and get the people who made them banned from YouTube, and he uses sock puppet accounts to troll and flame people. This is beyond pathetic for a guy who is in his late 30s. At least in the past it was like his videos were so bad that they were entertaining to watch and make fun of. I didn't buy into the whole "AVGN ripoff" speal that AVGN fanboys kept spewing since they even accused Nostalgia Critic and Armake21 of doing the same. Knowing what I do now about IG, about how his biggest motivation for making videos is money and how he proves time and time again that he's a distasteful person in real life, it's apparent that this will catch up to him and he will be forced to quit posting videos because people are going to stop caring.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You know what, I give up on Bores. There's no way that he can change or be better.

But anyway, I have a theory about his storyline. It was a thing that was kinda buggin me.

I watched some of his videos again (don't ask why) and came up with the following theory: The real Irate Gamer is actually the Evil Gamer, the Evil Gamer is the actual Irate Gamer, which explains his evil attitudes and his "Marty Sue" powers from the X-Men video and that's why he is trying to conquer the show, I'm probably wrong though.

    1. I don't think Bores is the type to contrive anything that layered. In any case, it's about time to start speculating how he'll end his "story arc." What hoarfrosted combination of anticlimax, joke, dream, catchphrase, and "The-end-or-is-it" will he shart out?

    2. I miss the old YouTube design of 2006-early 2010.
      - Back when the rating system used stars instead of thumbs.
      - Back when there was a big yellow SUBSCRIBE button above videos.
      - Back when the description box, along with "Other videos from [insert user name here]", was located off to the right side of the video.
      - Back when the channel design was great.
      - Back when the comments section was fine.
      - Back when YouTube partners did not abuse the thumbnail system and gave non-misleading titles to their videos.
      - Back before Google started slapping advertisements all over the place.

*Sigh* I really do miss those days . . .

I know this is crazy to say, but I actually prefer the thumbs rating over the star rating. As for the rest, I completely agree with you. But what I REALLY fucking hate the most is when they took away the video response feature. I mean, what the hell? And don't even get me started on Google Plus. That's a fucking nightmare.

    4. Remember whenever there's a reply, you can easily see which message the reply is referring to? It's gone. And it sucks.

    5. Youtube: Every time it changes, NOBODY will like it.

    6. Also, does anyone know how to enable thumbing up/down comments on your own videos?

Again, it's because these new YouTube changes are getting ridiculously confusing.

  30. Okay there's been something that's been bugging me this year and no it's has nothing to do with Bores it has to with some people on this blog regarding DMC. Several times I've seen people say it's terrible and I have to ask why? Is it worse than 2(which would be quite an accomplishment)? I mean if the series was that great I would get it but really the Devil May Cry is(in my opinion anyway)one of the most overrated series yet. There's four game and only one of them is great that being 3, the first one might've started the hack and slash genre(which I'm grateful for because I love the modern Ninja Gaiden games) but it's aged pretty bad. 2 is simply horrible end of story, and 4 is just okay it's not bad but that's about it.
All I'm asking for someone to tell me why DMC is so bad, I've played the demo and other than being a little easy it didn't seem that bad. Then I'm someone who only sees a game as bad when it's really bad and not just average which for some reason means terrible to alot of people.

    1. I have no Idea why people do not like DMC though I have never played it. From what I gather its the broken combo system in which you can one-hit kill bosses with a certain move. Another possible explanation is the precarious attitude of the developers who seemed to have went out of their way to piss off as many potential buyers as possible (being rude to the people worried about the changes made to the formula isn't a smart move considering they're the ones most likely to buy.). Last but not least, there's the popularity fallacy, in which people blame the game's lack of sales on the game being horrible.

To be honest man, people will bash a game even if its the best in its genre. Being an RTS player I can safely say that no one bashes the shitty RTS and in fact there are people who think games like sunage are the best games since starcraft. Remember that horrible is a relative word and that any game can be horrible if the gamer is having a bad day.

    2. Well I do remember a couple reviews about DMC that brought up the combo system making things to easy, then again you could tell the game was easy from the demo so no surprise there. But I really hope people weren't saying the game suck based on that because I think broken difficulty is a worse problem than easy difficulty, I mean whats worse enemies that die pretty fast or a camera that makes it almost impossible to see said enemies. At least that's just how I see things because I hate it when anyone says something is terrible based on very little or generic complaints, they could say it's boring or average but terrible is a little harder to get across in my opinion. For example I can think of almost a dozen single things wrong with Devil May Cry 2 which is why I said it was horrible.

  31. Chris posted a review about Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.
    It's awful.

    1. By the way, the review isn't a video review but rather a text review on his website.

  32. So it seems Joe Hladnik is actually done and gone, and now Bores is using the Jabba Hutski account claiming he's Joe... despite the fact he sounds nothing like Joe and types exactly like Buggin now. Unlike Buggin, we don't have concrete proof, but just look at some of "Joe's" comments and it'll seem a bit familiar...

    1. Also considering "Jabba's" new paranoia surround IP tracking, doxxing, and proxies... has Joe ever given any sort of crap about such things? Only someone who had been publicly outed as using a sockpuppet via such methods would be concerned... hi Chris, nice try. Not.

    2. Huh that is very interesting to note. Batdamn didn't give half a shit when he got IP traced, its not like he would anyway he was on vacation at the time he got traced. Batdamn DID give a shit when his IP address was traced from the wiki. Yet this new account just won't shut the fuck up about the IP tracking. Of course it would make sense for it to be Chris considering that Chris doesn't bother to check if his alibi works before using it.

    2. Another account was made barely changing the name in fact. Also buggins favorite words now seem to be nutty turds since she is trying to use them in every sentence. Honestly I find it insulting that she thinks that using the same insult over and over means anything.
